Women's Volleyball falls at St. John Fisher, 3-0

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The RIT Women's Volleyball team fell, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-23), at St. John Fisher, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Fisher opened an 8-2 first-set lead, before RIT pulled back within one, 9-8, with a 6-1 run and later rode a 4-1 surge to a 14-13 lead. The teams traded 12 points to a 20-19 RIT lead, but the Cardinals scored the next five points to finish the set on a 6-1 surge and take the opener.
  • Fisher led 8-2 to start the second, before the Tigers pulled within four, 11-7, with a 5-3 run. The Cardinals later pulled out to a 20-12 lead following a 6-3 run en route to the seven-point victory and a 2-0 lead.
  • Fisher opened a 13-7 lead in the third, before RIT won five of the next six points to pull back within two, 14-12. The Cardinals regained an 18-13 lead, but used a 9-4 run to knot the game, 22-22. Tied, 23-23, Fisher notched the last two points to complete the sweep. 

MATCH NOTES

  • Sophomore outside hitter Macie Jolliffe led RIT with eight kills and also notched a pair of service aces as well as two assisted blocks..
  • Graduate student setter Sydney Neff was credited with 25 assists, three service aces and six digs.
  • Senior middle blocker Catherine Vento added seven kills and a pair of assisted blocks.

RIT closes the regular season on Saturday (Nov. 9) with a 10:00 a.m. match at Brockport.
