Men's Soccer begins Liberty League Tournament at Hobart

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 5 RIT men's soccer team will play No. 4 Hobart in the first round of the Liberty League Men's Soccer Tournament on Tuesday (Nov. 5) at 1:30 p.m. It is the sixth time RIT has qualified for the Liberty League Tournament and first since 2022.

RIT enters the tournament averaging 0.75 goals per game, while allowing 1.31 goals per contest. Twelve Tigers have scored at least one point led by junior forwards Selorm Dake and Jake Donahue who each have five points on two goals and an assist. Senior defender Daniel Gebura is tied with Dake and Donahue with two goals while first years Idriss Diallo and Adrian Sobczak each have a goal and an assist.
 
Senior goalkeeper Jason Trapp has seen all the minutes in goal this season, recording six wins. He is tied for sixth in the league averaging 3.31 saves per game, seventh with three shut outs, ninth with a .716 save percentage and tenth with a 1.31 goals-against average.
 
Hobart enters the tournament averaging 1.06 goals per game and allow 0.88 goals per contest. The Statesmen are 3-0-2 in their last five games, including a 2-2 tie at St. Lawrence in the regular season finale.
 
First year Brady Leitner leads Hobart with 10 points and five goals. Sophomore La Zai Outerbridge is second with nine points on four goals and an assist and Quinn Phillips and Will Slayton are tied for third with five points (2g, 1a) apiece.
 
Junior Thomas Chyzowych has played all the minutes in net, recording five wins. He is fourth in the Liberty League with six shutouts, fifth with a 0.875 goals-against average, sixth with a .791 save percentage and tied for sixth averaging 3.31 saves per game.
 
RIT defeated Hobart 2-1 on September 20 in Rochester. Outerbridge scored in the fourth minute to give the Statesmen the lead. Gebura tied the game on his goal in the 42nd minute and first year forward Da'Vid Robinson tallied the game winner in the 78th minute.
 
Tuesday's winner will face top-seeded Vassar in the Liberty League Semifinal on Friday (Nov. 8).
