Baseball loses to Union in game three of Crossover Series, 9-7

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team lost game three of the Liberty League Crossover Series against Union, 9-7, Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the top of the first senior Kyle Poorman doubled to center, sophomore Trent Rapp and junior Adam Marsh both scored, giving the Tigers an early 2-0 lead
  • Union scored three runs in the second inning on a 2 RBI single through the right side and an RBI single to center
  • Sophomore Charlie Slaymaker reached on a fielder's choice in the third and Rapp scored, tying the game 3-3
  • The Garnet Chargers took back their lead in the fourth on an RBI single to left
  • In the fifth, Union scored three runs on a 2 RBI single and an RBI single, taking a 7-3 lead
  • The Tigers tied the game 7-7 in the sixth inning on RBI singles from Rapp and Poorman, followed by a 2 RBI double from Slaymaker
  • Union took an 8-7 lead in the seventh on a solo home run to right field
  • The Garnet Chargers scored one run in the eighth on a sacrifice fly to center, increasing their lead to two runs

GAME NOTES

  • Poorman went 4-for-5 from the plate
  • Slaymaker and Poorman each had 3 RBI
  • Rapp scored a team-high three runs
