Six things you need to know about the 2025 Baseball Team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT baseball team starts the 2025 season in Salisbury, Md. with a neutral site game against Alfred State this Saturday (Feb. 22) before playing No. 7-ranked Salisbury on Sunday (Feb. 23). Here are six things you need to know about this year's squad:

LAST SEASON
The Tigers finished 8-7 in the Liberty League and 15-20 overall last year. After finishing third in the Liberty League West division, RIT ended the season against Union in the best-of-three Liberty League Crossover Series. The Tigers were second in the league with a .964 fielding percentage, fourth in batting average (.284), and seventh in the league for pitching with a 5.81 ERA.

PRESEASON RANKING
RIT is predicted to finish third in the Liberty League's West Division. The team received 16 points in the poll with Ithaca landing the top spot with 24 points (four first-place votes) and Rochester garnering 22 points (two first-place votes).

EXPERIENCE AT THE PLATE
RIT returns a large core of last year's offense, including senior outfielder Adam Marsh and junior infielders Charlie Slaymaker and Jarin Moses. The trio were key contributors to the Tigers offense last season with Moses scoring 26 runs while Marsh was third with 26 runs. Both Slaymaker and senior infielder Randy Dodig recorded 23 runs in 2024.

Dodig and Moses were also active once getting on base as they led RIT in stolen bases. Dodig was 7-of-9 as Moses finished 6-of-8 in 2024.

VETERANS ON THE MOUND
Graduate student John Arnold returns to the mound this season after making 13 starts in 2024.  Arnold worked 63.1 innings, third-most in the Liberty League, and struck out 57 batters.

Junior Luc Rising had a strong sophomore year last season with a Liberty League-best 2.00 ERA through 36.0 innings. The right-hander recorded three saves while compiling a 3-1 record.

TIGER CUBS
The Tigers welcome nine first-year players along with one transfer.

The first years joining the squad are infielders Leo Miksitz, Zachary Meehl, Rocky Johnson, Remington Lee, outfielder Aidan Chouinard, and pitchers Ty Book, Ryan Moran, Leo Boehringer, and Colin Spidal.

Junior outfielder Jackson Rusiecki joins RIT after making the roster at North Carolina in 2022.

The team will head to Florida for six games in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational (March 9-16).
