Men's Basketball loses 79-61 at Hobart in Liberty League Semifinal
GENEVA, N.Y. – RIT junior forward Josiah Turner scored 19 points in the No. 4 Tigers 79-61 loss at No. 1 Hobart in the Liberty League Semifinal, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hobart's Aidan Rodgers capped off an 8-0 Hobart run to start the game with bucket two minutes into the first half.
- First-year guard Brody Brown cut the Statesmen lead to 15-9 on his driving layup with 14:38 remaining in the half.
- Rodgers made one-of-two free throws with 12:21 remaining to extend the Hobart lead to 21-9.
- Senior guard Matt Caggiano scored on a layup to cut the Hobart lead to 23-13 and converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 8:28 to play to cut the deficit to 26-16.
- Hobart went on a 15-5 run over a nearly six minute period, extending its lead to 41-20 on Rodgers' layup with 3:16 remaining in the half.
- RIT finished the half with a 6-0 spurt, cutting the Hobart lead to 41-26 on senior guard Mark Osime's bucket with 30 seconds remaining in the half.
- Turner scored early in the second half to cut Hobart's lead to 43-30 and Brown cut the lead to 43-32 on his layup with 17:54 to play.
- Hunter Meshanic gave the Statesmen a 47-32 lead on his bucket with 15:45 to play.
- Osime converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 12:57 remaining to cut the Hobart lead to 54-37.
- Caggiano and senior guard Keegan Ocorr made back-to-back buckets to cut the Statesmen's lead to 54-41 with 11:32 to play.
- Hobart extended its lead with a 13-3 run, taking a 71-48 lead on Pat Healy's layup with 5:24 to play.
- Senior guard Ronnie Toole scored with 2:32 remaining and first-year forward Nolan Smith hit a jumper with 2:13 to play to cut Hobart's lead to 77-57.
- First-year guard Luke Granto scored in the closing seconds to make it a 79-61 final.
