Men's Hockey takes 4-1 loss at Niagara

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The RIT Men's Hockey team lost a 4-1 decision at Niagara, Wednesday, in Atlantic Hockey America action.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Niagara opened the scoring with 8:05 left in the first following a neutral zone turnover by the Tigers. Noah Carling scored on a one-timer from the left faceoff circle, beating Tiger first-year goaltender Jakub Krbecek far post on the ensuing rush.
• Niagara broke the game open with three second-period goals. Glebs Prohorenkovs split two defenders in the slot and beat Krbecek with a backhand inside the right post with 17:30 on the clock before Lars Rodne scored on a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle inside the left post seven seconds later. The Purple Eagles notched a power play goal with 1:08 left in the period after Tyler Wallace finished a short cross inside the right post.
• RIT got one back skating 4-on-3 with 10:37 left in the third. Sophomore forward Tyler Fukakusa slipped a pass to senior forward Tanner Andrew at the point. Andrew slid a puck Lapointe at the right faceoff dot for a one-timer into the top-right corner of the goal. 

GAME NOTES

• Niagara finished with a 40-29 shot advantage.
• Krbecek totaled 35 saves - his fifth game in as many outings with at least 30 stops to start his Tiger career.
• Andrew's assist was his 50th career point.
• Lapointe tallied his first goal of the season and was the 12th Tiger to find the net this season.
• RIT dropped its fourth-straight game – its longest slide since taking five consecutive losses during the 2018-19 season. 

WHAT'S NEXT
After a weekend off, RIT continues Atlantic Hockey play next Friday and Saturday (Nov. 8-9) with a trip to Bentley. Faceoffs are set for 7:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
