Men's Hockey upended at Robert Morris, 6-1
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RIT Men's Hockey team lost, 6-1, at Atlantic Hockey America foe Robert Morris, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Robert Morris scored three unanswered goals in the first period. Tanner Klimpke sent a pass from behind the Tiger net to the top of the right faceoff circle where Dominic Elliott scored on a shot over Tiger first-year starter Jakub Krbecek's glove 3:13 into the game.
- Krbecek later made a save to snuff a RMU odd-man rush, but Trevor Ledonne collected the rebound in the left faceoff circle and hit McKay Hayes with a short pass for a shot inside the left post at 8:45.
- Robert Morris caused a turnover on the forecheck deep in the Tiger zone before Trent Wilson scored from close range with 1:47 left in the period.
- The Colonials took a 4-0 lead with a power play goal 1:35 into the second after Mitch Deelstra scored on a wrist shot at the end of a rush.
- RIT got on the board at 14:41 of the second. Sophomore forward Tyler Fukakusa stole a puck on the forecheck deep in the RMU zone and fed a pass to senior forward Evan Miller charging down the slot. Miller slipped a short return pass to Fukakusa who scored on a one-timer from outside the right post.
- Robert Morris made it a 5-1 game at 8:52 of the third after Cody Monds finished an odd-man rush off a cross-ice feed from Hayes.
- Robert Morris scored once more with 2:30 left in regulation to close the night.
GAME NOTES
- Fukakusa notched his team-leading 25th point of the season. Over the Tigers' last 12 games, he has only been held scoreless once while totaling 16 points (6G/10A) and is on pace to eclipse the 28 points (9G/19A) he totaled during his rookie campaign last winter.
- Krbecek toaled 10 saves in 21:35 minutes played, while junior goaltender Trent Burnham totaled 22 saves the rest of the way off the bench.
- Robert Morris finished with a 38-28 shot advantage.
- RIT finished with a 32-27 faceoff advantage, including a team-best 11-of-17 showing by junior forward Simon Isabelle. Isabelle also led the way with three blocked shots.

RIT takes on the host Colonials on Saturday (Jan. 18) in a rematch at 7:05 p.m.
