Six Tigers named Track & Field/Cross Country Academic All-District

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Six members of the RIT Track & Field/Cross Country programs were named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District, announced Tuesday.

Four individuals from the women's team - junior Emily DiMarco, graduate student Catherine Fox, graduate student Amelia Gilbert and junior Allison Regnante – were honored, along with senior Andrew Bernacki and graduate student Aidan Hughes from the men's team.

The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track and in the classroom. To be considered, nominees had to have achieved at least a sophomore standing and a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average while playing a prominent role on the field of competition.

DiMarco (3.78, Interior Design) finished an All-American 10th in the discus (146' 6"/44.66m) at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this spring. She was also named the Most Outstanding Field Performer at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships following a first-place effort in the discus (133' 7"/40.72m) and a runner-up finish in the shot put (41' 0.25"/12.50m). She also anchored the Tigers' distance medley relay that placed second at the Liberty League Indoor Championships (12:25.30) and fourth at the Atlantic Region Indoor Championships (12:25.30). Gilbert's spring included a program-record performance in the 3,000 (10:25.45) as well as a fourth-place showing in the 1,500 (4:40.27) at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships.

Regnante (3.99, New Media Design) logged a runner-up finish in the long jump (18' 2.25"/5.54m) and finished sixth in the 100 hurdles (15.18) during the Liberty League Outdoor Championships and also led off the program record-setting 4x100 relay (48.72) that finished seventh at the Atlantic Region Outdoor Championships. Her winter was highlighted by a second-place finish in the long jump (17' 4.75"/5.30m) and a third-place effort in the 60 hurdles with a PR 9.23 at the Liberty League Indoor Championships.

Bernacki (3.93, Mechanical Engineering) finished second with a PR in the javelin (189' 5"/57.73m) during the Liberty League Outdoor Championships before placing fifth at the Atlantic Region Outdoor Championships (184' 3"/56.15m).
