Wrestling goes 1-3 at NWCA National Duals
CEDAR FALLS, IA – The No. 24 RIT wrestling team went 1-3 at the 2025 NWCA National Duals. The Tigers lost 21-20 to Albion (MI) and 21-20 to Millikin, Friday. The Tigers defeated Adrian 24-16 before a 21-20 loss to Concordia-Moorehead, Saturday.
Saturday, sophomore Gabe Scalise won a 2-0 decision over Adrian's Colton Weimer at 133 lb. and junior Josh Post picked up a 5-3 decision over Mark Baird at 141 lb. Senior Michael Glynn III, ranked seventh, picked up a 7-0 decision over Sampson Ross at 149 lb. Sophomore Tyler Balent was a 7-2 winner over Spencer Vos at 174 lb. and sophomore Nick Smith picked up a 19-2 technical fall win over Daxton Looney at 197 lb. to give RIT an 18-16 lead. Junior Josh Harkless, ranked fourth at 285 lb., pinned Blake Daniels at 1:14 to seal the win.
Senior Lee Rubin led off the match with a 24-5 technical fall victory over Concoridia-Moorheads' Jeison Ingram at 125 lb. and Glynn picked up a 19-3 technical fall victory over Jack major at 195 lb. to give the Tigers a 10-9 lead. Smith picked up an 11-3 major decision over William Freking at 197 lb. that cut the Concordia's lead to 21-17 and Harkless defeated Sam Doiszeghy 5-2 at 285 lb.
Friday, Post picked up a 9-4 decision over Koen Eberhard at 141 lb. against Albion. Glynn pinned Xavier Carpentier at 149 lb. and Lee picked up a tech. fall (19-3) win over Max Honiss at 157 lb. Sophomore Josh Lanka pinned (1:54) Christopher Krum at 285 lb.
Post improved to 2-0 on the day with a 5-1 win over Millikin's Sabri Sino at 141 lb., while Glynn pinned Chase Mirelez at 4:03 at 149 lb. to give RIT a 9-8 lead. Lee was a 7-3 winner over Chance Cole at 157 lb. and Smith picked up a 10-4 decision over Mason Clem at 197 lb. Harkless defeated Leno Campbell 18-2.
RIT returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 18) at the SUNYAC Championships.
