Women's Volleyball loses, 3-0, at William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. – The RIT Women's Volleyball team lost, 3-0 (25-17, 25-8 25-19), at Liberty League rival William Smith, Wednesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • William Smith opened a 12-5 first-set lead before RIT scored a 6-3 run to pull within four, 15-11. The Herons later rode a 6-0 run to a 23-13 lead that proved insurmountable.
  • In the second, William Smith scored 12-straight points to build a decisive 18-4 lead, later scoring seven of the final eight points to close the set.
  • Trailing, 10-9, early in the third, RIT used a 5-3 run to knot the score, 13-13. The Herons answered with a 7-2 surge for a 20-15 lead before the Tiger scored three-straight points to pull back withing two, 20-18. William Smith won five of the final six points to close the set and the match.
