Women's Volleyball comes back for 3-2 win over Alfred State; falls to Brockport 3-1
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT Women's Volleyball team split a home tri-match on Saturday, coming back for a 3-2 (24-26, 27-29, 25-22, 25-22, 15-11) victory over Alfred State before falling, 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 25-14, 25-20) to Brockport.

- Alfred State opened the first set with a 7-2 lead and later led, 14-10, before RIT tied the score, 14-14, with four-straight points. Leading, 20-19, the Pioneers scored four-straight points for a 24-19 lead, but RIT came back to knot the score on five-straight Alfred State attack errors. The Pioneers scored the next two points to earn the opening win.
- RIT trailed, 14-9, in the second before putting together an 8-0 run for a 17-14 lead. Alfred State battled back to knot the score, 18-18, but the Tigers rode a 6-1 run to a 24-19 lead. The Pioneers scored the next six points for a 25-24 lead, but RIT fought of set point and had two swings at the set, including 27-26. Alfred State scored the final three points to pull out a 2-0 lead.
- Tied, 7-7, in the third, RIT scored four points for an 11-7 lead, but Alfred State retied the game, 12-12, with a 5-1 run. The Tigers opened a two-point lead on five occasions down the stretch, but Alfred came back to tie it each time. Leading 22-21, RIT scored back-to-back points before finishing the set with three of the final four points.
- RIT opened the fourth with an 11-3 lead before Alfred State used a 6-1 surge to pull within three, 12-9. The Pioneers later got within one, 17-16, but RIT pulled away with a 7-3 run for a 24-19 lead that proved insurmountable.
- The Tigers started the deciding fifth with a 9-3 lead and later pieced together a 4-1 run for a 14-6 lead en route to victory.

- Leading, 14-9, to start the first, RIT rode a 10-1 run to a 24-10 lead en route to the opening win.
- Trailing 8-3 to start the second and later, 16-12, RIT pulled back within one, 18-17, after a 5-2 run. Brockport moved back out to a three-point lead twice down the stretch, including 23-20, en route to evening the match.
- The Golden Eagles opened an 11-4 lead in the third, eventually taking a 12-point lead, 20-8. The Tigers looked to mount a comeback with five-straight points, but Brockport put the set away winning five of the next six points.
- Brockport led 10-6 to start the fourth, but RIT scored the next five points to start an 8-2 run for a 14-12 lead. The Tigers clung to a 16-15 lead, before Brockport rode a 6-2 surge to a 21-18 lead. RIT scored the next two points to pull within one, but the Golden Eagles finished the match with four unanswered points en route to the victory.

RIT will hit the road for a tri-match next Saturday to take on Neumann (1:00 p.m.) and host Widener (3:00 p.m.).
