Men's Basketball loses to Rochester, 85-68

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Graduate student Kenny Wilburn scored 15 points and hauled in 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the RIT men's basketball team fell 85-68 at Rochester, Tuesday.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After the Tigers took an early 4-2 lead to start the game, Rochester used a 9-0 run that started with a pair of made free-throws by Corvin Opera at the 18:05 mark. The run was capped by Logan Jagodzinski draining a three-pointer to make it an 11-4 lead over RIT with 15:34 remaining in the first half.
  • Senior forward Josiah Turner made a layup with 3:07 left in the half to cut Rochester's lead to just three points. Rochester, however, ended the half with a 7-2 burst to head into the locker room with a 34-23 lead.
  • In the second half, Rochester pulled away for good with a 9-2 run, which ended with another made three from Jagodzinski, giving Rochester a 79-50 lead with eight minutes remaining in the game.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Wilburn now has two consecutive games with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Turner's 15 points is the first time this season the forward has scored in double figures.
  • Sophomore guard Luke Granto scored 10 points for the Tigers, a career best.
  • RIT struggled from long range, shooting just 30.0 percent (6 of 20) on the night.

 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Tigers are off until Thursday, Nov. 21 when the team tips off against Nazareth in the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout, hosted by Rochester. Game-time is slated for 6 p.m.
