Softball drops two games against Geneseo, 10-5, 11-6
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a non-conference doubleheader, the RIT Softball team fell twice at home to Geneseo, Wednesday.
GAME 1 - GENESEO 6, RIT 5
- Senior Bailey Kehl doubled down the left line, driving in first-year Anna Cavotta to RIT on the board in the bottom of the first inning after the visiting Knights scored four runs to start the game.
- Geneseo added five more runs over following two innings before senior Maddy Cook hit a sacrifice fly in the third inning to bring Cavotta home, making the score 10-2. Later in the inning, Kehl added another run on a ground out by senior Kristin Hino.
- The Tigers added two more runs in the sixth with runs from Cavotta and sophomore Maria Minemier off a Cook double to center field.
GAME 2 – GENESEO 11, RIT 6
- The Tigers took a 2-1 lead in the third inning with runs from Kehl and first-year Sylvia White.
- Geneseo evened the score in the fourth inning when Katie Kuneth singled down the right line to bring Lauren Babich home.
- In the bottom of the fourth, RIT regained the lead with runs from Minemier and first-year Kate Carlone.
- The Knights scored nine runs through the next three innings to take control of the game to earn the sweep.
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT travels to the North Country for doubleheaders at Clarkson on Friday (Apr. 11) and St. Lawrence on Saturday (Apr. 12).
