Women's Hockey loses 4-0 at Penn State in game two of CHA Semifinal

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The No. 4 RIT women's hockey team lost 4-0 at No. 1 Penn State in game two of the College Hockey America Semifinal, Saturday. The Nittany Lions advance to the CHA Championship with a 2-0 series win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior forward Emma Roland had a shot early in the first period, firing a back-handed shot from the slot that Penn State goalie, Katie DeSa turned aside.
  • Tessa Janecke gave Penn State the lead on her goal at 6:24 of the first period, beating RIT sophomore goalie Sophia Bellina with a wrist shot into the corner.
  • The Nittany Lions took a 2-0 lead on Julie Gough's power play goal 2:50 into the second period, while Lyndie Lobdell made it 3-0 on her goal 1:16 later.
  • Maddy Christian tallied an empty-net goal for Penn State at 17:11 to make it a 4-0 final.

 
GAME NOTES:

  • Penn State outshot RIT, 37-23.
  • Bellina made 33 saves in net for the Tigers.
  • RIT's 13 wins is the most wins in a season since the 2019-20 campaign (12).
