Women's Soccer comes back to tie Geneseo 3-3
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior midfielder Jessie Gomez tied the score in the 89th minute to help the Tigers to a 3-3 tie against SUNY Geneseo, Saturday. RIT trailed 3-0 at halftime but outscored the Knights 3-0 in the second half to remain unbeaten.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lindsay Matthews scored in 18th minute to give Geneseo the lead.
- Juliette Frischmann gave the Knights a 2-0 lead on her goal in the 19th minute, and Abby Foster scored in the 35th minute to make it 3-0.
- Senior forward Olivia Harris had the Tigers best chance in the opening half when her shot on target in the 17th minute was turned aside by Geneseo Keeper, Mollie Collins
- Senior forward Rachel Marriott scored off an assist from Elena Onodera to pull RIT to within 3-1 in 69th minute. She fired a shot off an unsettled play inside the Geneseo penalty box.
- Sophomore midfielder Anya Sander made it 3-2 on her goal off an assist from first-year midfielder Valeria Luzio in the 75th minute. Sander fired a shot from distance that found the corner over an outstretched Collins.
- Gomez fired a one-timer from inside the Geneseo penalty area to tie the score at 3-3. Junior defender Roberta Moger served the ball into Gomez who volleyed a shot into the net. Onodera also had an assist on the play.
GAME NOTES
- RIT outshot Geneseo 17-6, including a 9-2 edge in the second half.
- First-year goalkeeper Avery Donnelly made one save in the second half to earn the tie.
- The Tigers fired five corner kicks to one for the Knights.
