Women’s Soccer settles for scoreless draw at Geneseo
GENESEO, N.Y. – The RIT women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Geneseo, Wednesday afternoon, in the final non-conference game of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior defender Neena Damodaran led the Tigers with three shots on goal in the first half, forcing Geneseo goalkeeper Emily McLouth to make saves in the 18th, 19th, and 22nd minutes.
- Elle Wong, a first-year defender, tested McLouth again in the 45th minute with a shot to the bottom center of the goal.
- Senior forward Elena Onodera added another shot on goal in the 69th minute.
- Sohpomore goalkeeper Avery Donnelly made a crucial save for the visitors in the 90th minute on a shot by Kirsten Shepherd that came off a free kick near midfield to preserve the shutout.
GAME NOTES
- RIT outshot the Knights 15-to-10, including a 7-to-6 edge in shots on goal.
- The Tigers also held a 5-to-4 advantage in corner kicks.
- Donnelly recorded a career-high five saves for RIT to earn her first career shutout
- With the result, the Tigers' record moves to 5-1-6 overall
