- Apr 2612:00 PMBreaking Out of The Box: Performing Arts ReflectionsThis collaborative performance is planned and curated by dance, music, and theatre faculty in the School of Performing Arts, and supported by technical and operations staff and Inaugural Director, Erica Haskell. All of the performers are students who have worked under the mentorship of performing arts faculty this year. This event is structured in such a way that audiences may come and go from the Sklarsky Glass Box Theater at any time throughout a two hour period from 12pm - 2pm. Attendees will enjoy multiple short performances featuring student musicians, actors, and dancers, showcasing the diversity and talents of RIT's performing arts ecosystem. The theater will be set up to facilitate creative collaboration, improvisation, and to highlight the ways these disciplines intersect with different "zones" in the Sklarsky Glass Box Theater (GBT); one for each of the performing arts areas of music, theatre, and dance. Each zone will have performers staged in it, but they will "perform" separately when lit and will then "pass off" to the next area, which will then be lit to cue the next performance while the other performers wait their turn for the loop to commence again. There will also be many opportunities for collaboration across groups & dancers will perform to live music, actors can engage with musicians, etc. The entire cast and crew is made up of students who have worked this year under the mentorship of the faculty.
