No. 2 Men's Lacrosse wins 18-7 at Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – RIT senior Eric Burbank recorded four points to lead the No. 2 Tigers to an 18-7 win at Geneseo, Wednesday.
 
Burbank finished with two goals and two assists, while senior Nate Senez scored three goals. Graduate student Allyn French scored two goals and won 12-of-12 face offs. Senior Ethan Harkins scored two goals and graduate student Ian Dinga, senior Michael Finneran and first year Ryan Bullock each had a goal and an assist.
 
Fifth year Nick Farrell won 8-of-10 face offs and had six ground balls. Junior Alex Zborowski made six saves and sophomore Chase Strychaluk made 10 saves.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Geneseo's Aksel Stanat scored 50 seconds into the game to give the Knight's the lead.
  • Senez scored two straight goals followed by a goal from Burbank with 9:49 to play in the first quarter to give RIT a 4-3 lead.
  • Jimmy Atkinson made 3-2 on his goal with 3:37 remaining before senior Clifford Gaston scored to give the Tigers a 4-2 lead.
  • Colin Cahill pulled Geneseo to within a goal, scoring with 12 seconds to play in the first to cut the Tiger's lead to 4-3.
  • RIT outscored the Knights 7-0 in the second quarter to lead 11-3 lead at halftime.
  • French scored twice in the quarter, while Finneran, Senez, Dinga, Harkins and senior Cade Ratliff-Kailbourne each scored.
  • The Tigers tallied the first three goals of the third quarter, extending their lead to 14-3 on Bullock's goal with 11:14 to play in the quarter.
  • Back-to-back goals from Jimmy Atkinson and Jake Perinchief cut the RIT lead to 14-5.
  • RIT scored three goals in the final 1:26 of the third taking a 17-5 lead on Burbank's goal with 13 seconds remaining.
  • First year Ryan Langille scored with 5:08 to play in the fourth quarter and Atkinson and Ronnie Trebing each scored for Geneseo to make it an 18-7 final.

 
GAME NOTES:

  • RIT outshot Geneseo, 45-35.
  • The Tigers were 18-of-19 on clearing attempts
  • RIT won 23-of-28- face offs and had 40 ground balls
