Six things you need to know about the 2024-25 Women's Swimming and Diving Team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's swimming and diving team takes to the pool for the first time in the 2024-25 season on Saturday (Oct. 12) at RPI. Here are the six things you need to know about the Tigers.

STRONG FINISH
The Tigers took second place at last season's Liberty League Swimming & Diving Championships, an improvement on their fourth-place finish in 2022-23.

At the meet, the Tigers set program records in all five relay events, helping the team finish with 1437.5 points, 75 points behind first-place Ithaca.

PESHENKO POWER
Senior Anna Peshenko was named the Liberty League Swimmer of the Year after making her third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division III Championships, earning All-American honorable mention in the 200m breaststroke with a 15^th place finish (2:19.75).

Peshenko comes into this season as the program record holder for both the 100m and 400m individual medley.

FIRST-YEAR PHENOM
Diver Maddi Williams placed ninth in the 1m dive at the NCAA Division III Championships, earning All-American honorable mention. This was after Williams placed third in both the 1m and 3m dives at the NCAA Diving Regionals.

BACK IN THE POOL
Along with Peshenko, and Williams, returners include graduate students Quincy Cechini, Keila Flewell, Zoe Masters, senior Taylor Stanley, juniors Sydney DeLapp, Lunden Dinkel, Meagan Kelly, Rebecca McArthur, Megan Metivier, Lorelei Robinson, and sophomores Evan Arnold, Anna Beahan, Meghan Black, Cassandra Collins, Amber Goldhagen, Faith Hamilton, Rose LaDue, Paige Panagos, Madisen Pavoris, Gwen Petrie, McKenna Porter, and KhaNy Sangasy.

NEW FACES
This season's team includes 10 student-athletes in the first year. They are Kimberly Dobie, Zoe Joss, Lilly Lindsay, Annika Rieger, Sephora Scoenheit, Emma Seibel, Jaden Steen, Valerie Tennyson, Audrey Wallach, and Jessica Walsh.

2024-25 SCHEDULE
After the Tigers open the season at RPI, the team will host Alfred (Oct. 18) and then travel to take on Gannon (Oct. 25). In November, RIT travels to Chicago to take part in the University of Chicago's annual D3 Shootout (Nov. 8-9) before visiting Ithaca (Nov. 23).

In their only competition in December, RIT will host the Don Richards Invitational (Dec. 6-7).

RIT will then head south to Fort Pierce, Fla. to face perennial junior college powerhouse, Indian River State College (Jan. 3). The Tigers return home to face Hamilton (Jan. 11) and Rochester (Jan. 18) before visiting Geneseo for a pair of meets (Jan. 24-25) to close out the month.

February will see RIT hosting Hobart (Feb. 1) as well as the Tiger Fast Chance Invitational (Feb. 14-15).

RIT will compete at the Liberty League Championship (Feb. 19-22) hosted by Ithaca. From there, the Tigers hope to compete in both the NCAA Diving Regionals and the NCAA Division III Championships.
