Men's Basketball loses at Clarkson, 83-77

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team fell on the road to Clarkson, 83-77, Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • With a one-point lead early in the first half, the Tigers went on an 18-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 24-10 lead with 13:35 left in the half.
  • The Golden Knights cut the lead to just four points before halftime, scoring six unanswered to head into the locker room trailing RIT, 44-40.
  • Clarkson took the lead with a pair of free throws from Finn Cork at the 17:24 mark in the second half.
  • RIT regained the lead when graduate student guard Matt Caggiano hit a three-point shot to make the score 57-55 with 13:07 left to play.
  • With seven minutes remaining, Clarkson took the lead for good when Jeff Dewar made a jump shot to give the Golden Knights a 69-68 lead.
  • Caggiano converted a free-throw with 33 seconds left to make it a one-point Clarkson lead.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Caggiano and sophomore guard Zac Ditzel scored a team-high 16 points. Caggiano also recorded seven assists and had a pair of steals.
  • Senior forward Josiah earned his second double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
  • Senior guard Brock Bowen chipped in 12 points after finishing 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
  • RIT's overall record slips to 7-13  and 3-10 in Liberty League action.
