Men's Basketball falls at Hobart, 75-67
GENEVA, N.Y. – The RIT men's basketball team fell at Hobart, 75-67, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first half, neither team could pull away from the other as RIT and Hobart were unable to lead by more than five points.
- Senior guard Matt Caggiano gave the Tigers a two-point advantage at the end of the half when he hit a pull-up jumper with five seconds left on the clock.
- RIT led by as much as nine points after a quick 8-3 run early in the second half, making it a 48-39 game at the 14:12 mark. The run was capped by a jumper from sophomore forward Nolan Smith.
- Later in the second half, the Statesmen secured the lead with an 8-0 run, which included five made free-throws. The run started with 6:29 remaining when Pat Healy converted a pair of free throws before hitting a three nearly a minute later to put Hobart up by three points.
- Down the stretch, Hobart managed to make their free-throws, finishing the half 18-of-24 at the charity stripe.
GAME NOTES
- Dickens shot 50 percent (6-of-12) from the field to lead the Tigers with 17 points.
- Graduate student forward Kenny Wilburn added 11 points and eight rebounds as Caggiano had eight assists to go along with eight points and six rebounds.
- Hobart's Pat Healy led all scorers with 19 points.
- The loss puts RIT at 5-5 overall while slipping to 1-2 in Liberty League action.
