Women's Basketball narrowly loses to Ithaca, 65-62

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's basketball team fell to Ithaca in a tightly contested game, 65-62, Tuesday evening.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • With the Bombers leading by five points in the first quarter, RIT scored 11 unanswered to finish the quarter with a 21-15 lead. The run saw senior guard Hannah Durand hit back-to-back three-point shots.
  • The Tigers led by as much as nine points in the second quarter before Ithaca rallied to take 32-29 advantage into halftime.
  • Trailing by two points, sophomore guard Maddy Ramsgard tied the game at 48 with a driving layup to start the fourth quarter. However, RIT was unable to take the lead as the Bombers shot nearly 43 percent from the field in the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Four players scored in double figures for the Tigers with Ramsgard leading the way with 15 points after going 6-of-10 from the field.
  • Senior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman added 12 points while leading RIT with seven rebounds.
  • First-years Caroline Henderson and Ben Kayser-Cochran scored 11 and 10 points respectively.
  • Ithaca's Emma Waite led all scorers with 18 points in addition to recording nine assists and three steals.
  • The setback puts the Tigers at 6-6 overall and falls to 4-1 in the Liberty League.
