Twelve Tigers named CSC At-Large Academic All-District
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Twelve RIT Tigers were named to the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District team, announced this week.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. To be considered, nominees had to have achieved at least a sophomore standing and a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average while playing a prominent role on the field of competition.
The At-Large teams are comprised of student-athletes who compete in the following sports: women's beach volleyball, women's bowling, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, women's rowing, skiing, men's volleyball, water polo and men's wrestling
Kylie Aquaro (Jr., Women's Hockey)
Aquaro (3.88, Applied Arts & Sciences) was inducted into RIT's Chi Alpha Sigma chapter. She played in a career-high 34 games and led the team in scoring with a career-best 26 points on 10 goals and 16 assists. An Atlantic Hockey America All-Academic selection, Aquaro was the CHA Forward of the Week (Jan. 2).
Lydia Blatnik (5th-Year, Women's Rowing)
Blatnik (3.85, Biomedical Engineering) landed first-team All-Liberty League honors. Her season was highlighted by a runner-up finish as a member of the Varsity 8 that finished second at the Liberty League Championships with a time of 7:11.15 in the finals.
Maggie Carey (5th-Year, Women's Rowing)
Carey (3.65, Biomedical Engineering) was named a Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Second-Team All-American and a first-team All-Liberty League selection. Her season was highlighted by a runner-up finish as a member of the Varsity 8 that finished second at the Liberty League Championships with a time of 7:11.15 in the finals.
Lily DePalma (Jr., Women's Lacrosse)
DePalma (4.0, Biology) was an Honorable Mention All-Liberty League selection. She recorded career-highs in points (40), goals (31) and assists (9), including a career-high four goals against Clarkson. A 2024 Liberty League All-Academic selection, DePalma finished third on the team in scoring.
Jake Erickson (Gr., Men's Lacrosse)
Erickson (3.76, Business Analytics) was a USILA Second Team All-American and a Second Team All-Liberty League selection, recording career highs in points (105), goals (50) and assists (55). One of only five players in program history to eclipse 100 points in a season, his 105 points were the third-highest single-season total ever by a Tiger.
Mike Glynn III (Jr., Wrestling)
Glynn (3.87, Mechanical Engineering) finished eighth at 149 pounds at the NCAA Championships to earn All-American honors. He won the title at the Ken Ober Memorial Tournament and placed second at the SUNYAC Championships. Glynn finished with a 29-5 record and was tied for third on the team with 10 wins coming via pinfall.
Jamie Hunt (Sr., Men's Lacrosse)
Hunt (3.98, Criminal Justice) was the NCAA Elite 90 winner for men's lacrosse at this year's National Championship game in Philadelphia. The co-captain was named to the Liberty League All-Academic team after playing in a career-high 24 games, causing a career-best 15 turnovers and grabbing a career-high 19 ground balls to go along with three assists.
Serafina Kiselgof (So., Women's Lacrosse)
Kiselgof (4.0, Physician Assistant) was an Honorable Mention All-Liberty League selection. She led RIT with career highs in points (66), goals (55) and assists (11), tying for fifth in the Liberty League in goals and finishing 10th in points. Kiselgof recorded a career-high nine points and six goals against Rochester.
Dimitri Mikrogiannakis (Sr., Men's Hockey)
Mikrogiannakis (3.86, Psychology) was named an American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar and an Atlantic Hockey America All-Academic team member for the fourth-consecutive season. The defenseman blocked a team-high 71 shots and totaled nine points (2G/7A) while playing all 40 games during the Tigers' run to the Atlantic Hockey Championship and NCAA Tournament last winter.
Caleb Moretz (5th-Year, Men's Hockey)
Moretz (3.96, Biomedical Science) landed his second-consecutive CSC Academic All-District honor after captaining the Tigers to the Atlantic Hockey Championship and the NCAA Tournament last winter. He was also named an AHCA All-American Scholar and an Atlantic Hockey America All-Academic team member for the fifth-consecutive season.
Tommy Scarfone (Jr., Men's Hockey)
Scarfone (3.82, Business Management) was named CSC Academic All-District for the second consecutive season, while also landing his third-straight Atlantic Hockey All-Academic honor and second-straight AHCA All-American Scholar selection. He was named the Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Year and first-team all-conference after finishing third nationally with a 25-9-2 record, fourth with a .925 save percentage and 12th with a 2.26 goals against average. The Hobey Baker Award nominee and Richter Award Semifinalist also became the first Tiger to eclipse 1,000 saves during a single season, totaling a program record 1,015 stops last winter.
Natalie Siwek (Sr., Women's Rowing)
Siwek (3.97, Environmental Studies) garnered first-team All-Liberty League recognition. Her season was highlighted by a runner-up finish as a member of the Varsity 8 that finished second at the Liberty League Championships with a time of 7:11.15 in the finals.
Erickson, Glynn and Scarfone were selected to move on to the national ballot, where they will be in consideration for Academic All-America status, to be announced next month.
