Two Tigers land Liberty League weekly accolades

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Two RIT student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League with weekly honors. First year Caroline Henderson was named the Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week while graduate student Mike Atanasoff was named the Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Henderson helped RIT pick up wins over RPI and William Smith over the weekend. The first year guard averaged 17.0 points, seven rebounds and shot 57.14 percent from the field (12-of-21) and from beyond the arc (8-of-14). Henderson recorded her first career double-double scoring a game-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the Tigers 59-58 win over RPI, Friday. A three-time Liberty League Rookie of the Week, Henderson tallied 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in RIT's win over William Smith, Saturday. Henderson leads the team averaging 13.9 points per game, ranking her fourth best in the Liberty League. 

Atanasoff won two individual events and swam a leg in the winning 200 Yard Freestyle Relay to help lead RIT to a 239-42 win over Hobart, Saturday. Atanasoff swam a personal best 21.61 seconds in the 50 Yard Butterfly, the third fastest time in Division III this season. He won the 50 Yard Freestyle in a time of 20.68 seconds to go along with a split time of 20.12 in the relay.
