RIT Athletics Preview: Sep. 2-8
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
The Tigers opened the season going 3-1 at the St. Vincent Bearcat Challenge last week. On Friday, RIT earned a pair of five-set wins over Bethany, 3-2 (23-25, 27-25, 25-16, 23-25, 17-15) and St. Vincent, 3-2 (25-27, 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-9). On Saturday, the Tigers defeated Pitt-Greensburg 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 14-25, 25-15) before falling to Westminster (PA), 1-3 (25-15, 27-25, 27-29, 25-20).
Senior outside hitter Samantha Cox totaled 72 kills for RIT in addition to recording 10 blocks (4 solo, 6 assist) over the four matches.
Setter Sydney Neff was named to the all-tournament team after averaging 10.3 assists 2.94 digs.
RIT hosts the six-team RIT Invitational next Friday and Saturday (Sept. 6-7), starting with a match against Buffalo State on Friday at 4:30 p.m.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
RIT opened the season at home with a pair of wins last week by defeating Stevens, 2-1, and Mount St. Mary (NY), 6-1.
Senior Olivia Harris and junior Elena Onodera led the Tigers with two goals and two assists over the two games.
The Tigers host Geneseo on Saturday.

MEN'S SOCCER
The Tigers dropped their season-opener on Friday,1-0, at home against Brockport.
In the defeat, senior John Lucas led the team with five shots, placing two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Jason Trapp made four saves for RIT.
The Tigers are back in action Wednesday at St. John Fisher for a 7:00 p.m. matchup before facing Geneva at home this Saturday at noon.
