Women's Basketball falls to Ithaca in first round of Liberty League Tournament
ITHACA, N.Y. – RIT senior guard Emma Waite scored a team-high 17 points as the women's basketball team fell to Ithaca, 78-59 in the first round of the Liberty League tournament.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Senior guard Emma Waite sunk a shot from behind the arc, tying the game at seven with 8:13 left in the first
- On the next possession, sophomore guard Ansley Orrell connected from three-point land, giving the Tigers their first lead of the game
- Back-to-back three pointers from Orrell and sophomore guard Erin DiPaola gave the Tigers a 19-13 advantage with four minutes left in the first
- Ithaca went on a 8-0 scoring run over the next two minutes, regaining the lead
- RIT took a 24-23 lead after the first quarter
- The Bombers began the second quarter on a 6-0 scoring run
- Orrell made a driving layup, putting the Tigers within three with 6:23 left in the half
- Ithaca outscored RIT 8-0 over the next two minutes, taking 39-28 lead over the Tigers with four minutes left in the second quarter
- At 1:13 in the second, Waite made a layup, putting the Tigers within six
- The Bombers took a 44-37 lead at the half
- Junior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman made one free throw at the 8:55 mark in the third, putting the Tigers behind 46-40
- Ithaca outscored RIT 14-4 for the remainder of the third, taking a 60-44 lead going into the fourth
- The Bombers finished the game outscoring the Tigers, 18-15, earning a 78-59 win

- Senior forward Mya Richardson had a team-high seven rebounds
- DiPaola logged 40 minutes of playing time, a career-high
- Orrell had 16 points and shot 54.5% (6-for-11) from the floor
