Women's Basketball tops Bard in regular-season finale, 75-49

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – First-year guard Caroline Henderson recorded a double-double to guide the RIT women's basketball team to a 75-49 win against Bard, Saturday.  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Leading 8-7 in the first quarter, RIT used an 8-2 scoring run to extend the lead to seven points with under two minutes to play in the quarter.
  • With the Tigers leading by 14 in the second quarter, Bard had an 8-2 run of their own to cut the lead to eight points with 4:46 remaining in the half.
  • After Bard's run, RIT scored the next eight points to make it a 16-point lead.
  • Bard used a 9-3 run in the third quarter to trim an 18-point deficit but was unable to gain enough ground as RIT ended the game with a 26-point advantage.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Henderson led the Tigers with her second double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and hauling in 10 rebounds.
  • Senior forward Faye Kaplinski added 11 points and notched six rebounds.
  • In all, nine players scored for the Tigers.
  • RIT wraps up the regular season with a 14-11 record overall and a 12-6 record in league play.  

 
WHAT'S NEXT
RIT enters the Liberty League Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 St. Lawrence at home this Tuesday (Feb. 25) at a time to be determined.
