ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT senior guard Emma Waite scored a single-game record 40 points as the women's basketball team defeated Bard, 77-34, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A made free throw from sophomore guard Ansley Orrell put the Tigers up 5-0 midway through the first quarter
- Waite hit a shot from beyond the arc, putting RIT in front 13-4 with 3:31 left in the first
- The Tigers finished the quarter on a 11-1 scoring run, taking a 21-5 lead after the first ten minutes of play
- First-year guard Ella Wilson made a driving layup, increasing RIT's lead to 19 with 6:47 left in the second quarter
- Senior guard Mya Richardson scored on a layup, giving the Tigers a 35-11 lead with 3:33 left in the first half
- First-year forward Grace Murphy made a layup to close out the first half, putting the Tigers in front 39-14 at the half
- Junior guard Kaitlyn Bockelman scored on a driving layup with 2:27 left in the third, giving the Tigers a 47-19 lead
- RIT took a 30 point lead after three quarters of play
- Waite sunk a shot from behind the arc at the 2:11 mark in the fourth, setting the program record for points scored in a single game
- The Tigers took a 77-34 victory
