Baseball loses at Rochester, 8-7

ROCHESTER, N.Y.   – The RIT baseball team lost to Rochester, 8-7, with the Yellowjackets taking the win with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning, Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Roberto Reade put the visiting Tigers on the board with a solo home run to make the score 3-1 through five innings.
  • RIT evened the score in the sixth inning with runs from fellow juniors Caelen Kim and Jarin Moses.
  • In the top of the seventh inning, Moses hit a three-run blast over the left field fence, giving the Tigers a 6-3 advantage.
  • Rochester scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a one-run lead.
  • Senior Randy Dodig drove in sophomore Dorian Stroud with a single through to tight field to tie the game at 7-7.
  • The Yellowjackets' Rand Davis singled to center field with bases loaded, bringing Alexander Gonzalo home to score the winning run.

 
GAME NOTES

  • Moses' home run was the junior's eighth of the season as Reade has cleared the fence three times this season.
  •  Starting pitcher John Arnold worked 6.2 innings, recording three strikeouts while allowing seven runs off of eight hits.
  • The loss puts the Tigers overall record at 20-12 while slipping to 9-7 in the Liberty League.  

 
UP NEXT
The Tigers host Rochester on Sunday (Apr. 27) for a doubleheader to close out the regular season. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
