Women's Lacrosse wins 17-10 at Oswego
OSWEGO, N.Y. – RIT junior Morgan Nichter and senior Lily DePalma each scored four goals to lead the Tigers to a 15-9 win at Oswego, Friday.
DePalma finished with a career-high seven points and three assists and tied her career-high scoring four goals. Junior Jenna Bovenzi finished with a career-high five points and four assists and junior Milena Stephen scored three goals. First year Cameryn Case scored two goals, and junior Zoe Heffernan had two goals and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nichter scored with 11:22 to play in the opening quarter to give RIT the lead.
- The Tigers ran off three straight goals, taking a 4-1 lead on DePalma's goal with 4:16 to play in the frame.
- Oswego came back with two straight goals, cutting RIT's lead to 4-3 on Winn Mackenzie's goal.
- RIT outscored Oswego 6-1 in the second quarter to lead 10-4 at halftime.
- Stephen scored her second goal of the first half with 13:26 to play in the second off an assist from Heffernan to give RIT a 5-3 lead.
- DePalma scored twice in a five-goal RIT run. Her goal with 3:21 to play in the half gave the Tigers an 8-4 lead and she scored with three second remaining to give RIT a six-goal lead at the half. Nichter, Jenna Bovenzi and Heffernan each scored in RIT's run.
- Stephen scored early in the third quarter to increase RIT's lead to 11-4.
- Nichter scored a free-position goal with 9:33 to play to give the Tigers a 12-5 lead.
- Oswego tallied back-to-back goals, cutting RIT's lead to 12-7 on Cassidy Croce's goal.
- Nichter scored and DePalma back-to-back goals to give RIT a 14-7 lead.
- Croce scored with 30 seconds left in the quarter to cut the deficit to 14-8.
- Case scored her second goal of the game early in the fourth quarter to give RIT a 15-8 lead.
- Madison Davis scored with 7:35 to play to cut RIT's lead to 15-9 and Alexis Hill scored a woman-up goal with 6:17 remaining to make it a five-goal game.
- Heffernan and junior Adele Jones each scored to make it a 17-10 final.

- RIT outshot Oswego, 35-31
- First year goalie Grace McDonald made 12 saves for her first collegiate win.
- Sophomore defender Katherine Killian won seven draw controls, caused two turnovers, and had two ground balls.
- RIT was 11-of-13 on clearing attempts and won 20-of-30 draw controls.
