Six Things You Need to Know About the 2025 Women's Lacrosse Team

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The RIT women's lacrosse team opens its 2025 season on Wednesday (Feb. 26) at Geneseo. Here the six things you need to know about the Tigers heading into the season.
 
1. A LOOK BACK ON 2024
RIT won six games last season. Katherine Killian was a First Team All-Liberty League selection while Lily DePalma and Serafina Kiselgof were honorable mentions selections. Killian was the first defender in program history to receive first team all-league honors and was a First Team IWLCA Division III All-Empire Region selection.
 
2. NEWCOMERS
RIT adds seven newcomers including six first years to the roster. First year midfielder Giana DeLucia, first year defender Jocelyn Lee, first year attack Cameryn Case, first year midfielder Julia Sparks, first year attack Ryleigh McKnight and first year goalie Grace McDonald join junior midfielder Grace Validzic on the 2025 roster.
 
3. WHEN THE TIGERS HAVE THE BALL
The Tigers return four of their top five leading scorers from a year ago led by junior Serafina Kiselgof who was an Honorable Mention All-Liberty League selection. She led the Tigers with a career-high 66 points and 55 goals. Senior Lily DePalma finished third with a career-high 40 points, including a career-high 31 goals and junior Morgan Nichter was fourth with a career-high 36 points and 25 goals. Junior Adele Jones was fifth with 32 points on 16 goals and 16 assists. Junior Zoe Heffernan returns for 2025 after tallying 53 points (29g, 24a) in 2023.
 
4. DEFENSE…DEFENSE
Killian was a First Team IWLCA All-Empire Region and First Team All-Liberty League selection in 2024. She led the team with 25 caused turnovers and 86 caused turnovers. Senior Jane Hudson caused a career-high 14 turnovers while Jaimee Triolo recorded career-bests with 12 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Junior Emma Scott had six ground balls and caused seven turnovers.
 
5. GOALIE
Junior Ellie Ruddy returns for 2025. She won six games last season, making 193 saves. First year Grace McDonald was a five-year starter at Smithtown East High School finishing as the career saves leader.
 
6. 2025 SCHEDULE
Sixth-year head coach Erin Wagner and the Tigers are scheduled to play 16 regular season games, including 10 in the Liberty League. The Tigers will play seven games at home and nine on the road. RIT will play two teams that participated in the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament (William Smith and Ithaca) and two teams ranked in the IWLCA Division III poll (William Smith – No. 5, Ithaca – No. 11).
 
RIT plays six non-conference games beginning February 26 at Geneseo. The Tigers play at Oswego (March 1) before returning home against Nazareth (March 5). RIT will play Endicott (March 8) and at Stevenson (March 12) over Spring Break.
 
RIT begins Liberty League play on the road at No. 11 Ithaca (March 15) followed by a weekend series at Skidmore (March 21) and at Union (March 22). The Tigers close out March with a non-conference game at Brockport (March 26) and home against RPI (March 29).
 
April begins with a pair of conference games against Bard (April 4) and Vassar (April 5). The Tigers host Rochester (April 9) before playing at Clarkson (April 12). RIT finishes the regular season at home against William Smith (April 16) and St. Lawrence (April 26).
