RIT Athletics Preview: Jan. 20 – Jan. 26

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
RIT split their two-game series at Robert Morris over the weekend by earning a 2-0 win on Friday before suffering a 5-4 loss in overtime on Saturday.
Senior goalie Sarah Coe picked up her third shutout of the season after making 22 saves.

The Tigers square off with Syracuse this coming weekend in a home-and-away series. RIT hosts the Orange on Friday (Jan. 24) at 3 p.m. before visiting Syracuse on Saturday (Jan. 25) for another 3 p.m. contest.

MEN'S and WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
RIT put together a strong showing at Brockport's Rust Buster on Friday. On the women's side, junior Sadie Schreiner set facility and program records in the 200m (24.50) and 400m (55.91), which are also the top times in Division III this season. 

For the men's team, first-year John Elliot earned his first collegiate win with the 12th fastest 800m time (1:55.73) in Division III.
 
The Tigers make their home debut this Friday (Jan. 24) when they host the annual RIT Friday Meet inside the Gordon Field House with events starting at 4 p.m.

MEN'S and WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
Both the men's and women's teams picked up wins against Rochester in a home dual meet on Saturday.
 
For the men's side, Graduate student Mike Atanasoff won two individual events as well as swimming legs in two winning relays to help RIT earn a 216-81 win.
Atanasoff won the 100 Yard Butterfly (50.23) and 50 Yard Freestyle (20.95) as well as participating in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:25.89) and 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:32.63). 

Sophomore Rose LaDue won the 100 Yard Freestyle (55.59) and 100 Yard Backstroke (1:00.77) while also swimming legs in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:49.87) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:40.13) to lift the Tigers past Rochester, 167-133.

The teams visit Geneseo for a dual meet this Friday and Saturday (Jan. 24 & 25).

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
RIT played three games last week with loses to Ithaca and Vassar while earning a win against Skidmore.
 
In their 78-68 win over the Thoroughbreds, first-year guard Caroline Henderson scored a game-high 24 points. Henderson currently leads the team with 14.5 points per game.
 
The Tigers host Clarkson this Friday (Jan. 24) and St. Lawrence on Saturday (Jan. 25).

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Tigers defeated Skidmore while falling to Ithaca and Vassar in a busy three-game slate last week.
 
In their win over Skidmore, sophomore forward Nolan Smith scored a career-best 19 points as graduate student guard Matt Caggiano recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists.
 
RIT takes on Clarkson on Friday (Jan. 24) and St. Lawrence on Saturday (Jan. 25).

The Tigers split games at Robert Morris over the weekend, falling 6-1 on Friday before getting a 3-2 win on Saturday.
 
Sophomore forward Matthew Wilde notched a goal and an assist in the win for RIT.
 
The team is back in action Friday and Saturday (Jan. 24 & 25) with a home series against Niagara.

WRESTLING
RIT placed fifth at the SUNYAC Championships on Saturday with junior Josh Harkless winning the 285 lb. division after pinning Oneonta's Andrew Morris before pinning Oswego's Dylan Cogswell in the semifinals and Brockport's Nick Franco in the final.
 
The Tigers travel to Elizabethtown College (Pa.) to compete in the Ken Ober Invitational.
