RIT Athletics Preview: Feb. 24 – Mar. 2

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
RIT earned a pair of wins to end the regular season last week with a 64-63 overtime triumph at Union before defeating Bard, 75-49.

With the two wins, the Tigers earned the four-seed in this week's Liberty League Tournament and will host St. Lawrence in the quarterfinals on Tuesday (Feb. 25) at 5:30 p.m.

MEN'S LACROSSE
No. 2-ranked Tigers picked up a 17-11 win at Grove City on Saturday as senior Ethan Harkins scored a career-high six goals.
 
The team makes their home debut against Nazareth on Wednesday (Feb. 26) before hosting York on Saturday (Mar. 1).

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
RIT visits Geneseo (Feb. 26) to open their season after needing to reschedule last week's game at Oswego due to weather, which will now be played this Saturday (Mar. 1).

MEN'S and WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
At the Penn State Tune-Up on Friday, sophomore Jack DeFeo was the top Division III finisher in the 400m, finishing seventh with a program-record 48.52 seconds.
 
On the women's side, senior Caroline Hill finished second in the 400m with a regional qualifying time of 1:00.18.
 
RIT travels to Ithaca to compete in the Liberty League Indoor Championships this coming Friday and Saturday (Feb. 28-29).

MEN'S and WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
The men's and women's divers will compete at the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals at Ithaca this Friday and Saturday.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
Playing in the first round of the AHA Tournament, RIT earned a 4-0 win at home against Lindenwood on Saturday to advance to the semifinals against top-seed Penn State this coming weekend.

The semifinals are a best-of-three series with games scheduled for Friday (Feb. 28) and 3 p.m. and Saturday (Mar. 1) at 2 p.m. If needed, the third game will be played Sunday (Mar. 2) at a time to be determined.

MEN'S HOCKEY
After getting a pair of wins at home against Mercyhurst over the weekend, the Tigers look to make a playoff push starting this Friday (Feb. 28) when they take on American International in the first round of the AHA Tournament.
 
The single winner-take-all game will be held at Army's Tate Rink in West Point with the puck dropping at 6:05 p.m.

WRESTLING
The Tigers are set to compete in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships this weekend. The two-day event is hosted by Lycoming in Williamsport, Pa.

BASEBALL
RIT opened their season on the road on Sunday, defeating Alfred State in a neutral site game before falling to the hosts, Salisbury.
 
Graduate student pitcher John Arnold recorded nine strikeouts while not allowing a hit through five innings to get the win.
 
The Tigers travel to Lancaster, Pa. for a three-game series against Franklin & Marshall.

The Tigers look to keep their momentum going after defeating Nazareth, 7-0, at home last Wednesday when they host Hamilton on Saturday (Mar. 1) inside the Gordon Fieldhouse.

RIT first years Alexander Sinclair and Yu Tanimoto took first place at the Ranger Doubles Invitational at Drew, highlighting a successful weekend for the Tigers.
