HOUGHTON, N.Y. – RIT women's cross country senior Sierra Danieu finished first while sophomore Kathryn Arbegast finished second to lead the Tigers to a first-place finish at the Highlander Invitational, Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Danieu crossed the finish line with a winning 21:50.7 clocking, besting the field by nearly 54 seconds. It was her second-straight win after also finishing first at the Kara Hall Invitational at Fredonia last Saturday.
- Arbegast crossed in 22:44.1 with an 11-second cushion over the rest of the field.
- Sophomore Therese Georgia placed fifth for RIT with a time of 23:09.4 with teammates Abby Nautel (23:38.2) and Eva Reilly (23:41.9) coming in ninth and 10th, respectively.
- Junior Abby Thomas (24:19.7) finished 17th while senior Jade Kimmel was 21st (24:34.3) to complete the Tigers' top-seven.
- RIT scored 27 points to best runner-up Lock Haven (44), while St. John Fisher (77), Houghton (93) and Mansfield (154) rounded out the top-five teams.

RIT travels to Geneseo next Saturday (Oct. 19) to compete in the Mike Woods Invitational.
